Saw a first gen SAA today at a gun show and it had a brass trigger guard, the fit seemed good, any idea what it came from??

1851 Navy, 1860 Army or a reproduction of some sort.

Most likely from an old Great Western,their "fast draw" mdl. came w/brass trgr. strp. & bkstrp.-they were the 1st company that produced SA's almost identical to the colt,the parts were inter-changeable,a lot of their 1st issue sheriff's mdls had hammers & cyl's w/colts rampant logo on them.I still own a few of them.

I drove 3 hours to the show and the only saa was this one with fake US stamp and 2500.00 price tag,,, what a disappointment...

I've always sort of fancied brass mounted guns, especially when mated with walnut.

Here is my Colt Single Action Army (center) fitted with a brass backstrap from an 1851 Navy.



At one time, Turner Kirkland at Dixie Gun Works, Union City Tennessee, had a stock of old Colt parts, whether Colt or replica I don't know. But now there are many parts available for Colt replicas from Uberti and Hawes.

This 1860 style brass grip frame takes a Colt SAA main spring. I don't know if that's a regular thing with the 1860 frame.
