I have a 450 boxer saa in the 38000 range, with all matching numbers and corect london depo barrel address, brit proofed and correct cylinder brit proofed. the cylinder is not numbered ., and upon takeing off the ejector housing i found no number on the barrel either.its atleast a 50% finish gun, . the gun letter's as per factory.
what do you think explain's the missing number's?

This may have occurred during the period when Colt was scrambling to comply with British acceptance. British decided not to accept guns with Pall Mall address ( If memory serves!) and Colt was furiously trying to change or alter their barrels to meet new British compliance rules on the barrel markings. in the maelstrom the serial stamping may have been overlooked and therefore a factory error. Lack of cylinder serial make have also been a result of this issue. Just my opinion.

yep i tend to agree rick. its around the time of the new london address, after the period when british customs seazed two shipments for having just the london address only.because of the finish of the entire gun,its highly unlikely a barrel and cylinder was damaged in england.
just another mystery of the colts in general.
