Cancelation on a Colt Gun

4927 Views 53 Replies 31 Participants Last post by  guy sajer
Recently, I almost made a buy from a current colt forum member but they decided to cancel the deal. Everything was going smooth. I had bought a cashier's check and mailed it out but last minute everything got canceled. I didnt recieve a call saying so and so instead just got a emailed. I tried calling but didnt pick up. Once there was an answer but just said they were on another line busy just said Thank You and hung up. This is not the way to do business. Especially since I mailed out a check over $3k. Never knew why the deal was canceled. Thats the upsetting part. Something to do with FFL's maybe but could of had expressed it. I usually use an FFL to handle my transactions but its hard especially since I live in CA. Im better off just getting a Curio and Relic License.

Hard to say what happened with this seller; maybe he found a higher offer. I think you might have dodged a bullet. Imagine trying to reach some type of agreement if you had gone through with it & then found the gun wasn't as advertised. Good luck on the next one; there's plenty of good guns out there from reputable sellers.
If he found a higher offer he could of had let me know. Imagine you sending off the payment after having spoken to him on the phone an 2 days later the transaction is canceled. But never was mentioned why. What kind of stuff is that? My father told me once you come into an agreement by word its your word; dont back off from what you say.

We talked Wednesday Evening and so I mailed out the check Thursday. I checked the tracking and he recieved it today Saturday. I was told they were going to mail it back.
Don't judge us all by what happened on that one transaction. As the old saying goes, "Don't paint us all with the same brush."
Im not judging all the same way just that there are some members here that can't do business and don't deserve to be on the forum.

That is a tough call.
"... some members here ..." suggests several current members but your original post said "... a former ... member...".
He's a current member sorry about that.
Once a deal is made, there is no excuse to cancel the deal. I cannot think of an "FFL problem" that would necessitate cancelling the deal.

For all of you who always pushing buying and selling here, this is a sad example that not everyone here is an honorable seller.

He wasnt man enough to tell me he got a better deal. Maybe I could of offered a better deal yet. As JudgeColt said, We need Real honorable member's here.
Your word is your bond, to many folks today have lost that integrity! It's a shame and the way he went about that (assuming he's a guy) was not right. Good communication is key to making a smooth deal happen for both parties! I over communicate sometimes! ;) ok most times or ok all the time!!
Its very funny you say that. He didnt answer or call to talk about the cancelation. Im so upset.
Curiosity caused me to check your posting history to see where you responded to any wts ads in our Classifieds but I found nothing . Only the 2 Colt autos your friend was selling you . Maybe I over looked it ?

My old man taught me as a child, "A man can only sell his integrity once, and if he does, he will never recoup his loss".

That said, just today I have concluded my first deal selling one of my Colt's, to a member here, from my first post to a thread no less.

I know we were both more than a little nervous (a first doing the internet thingy for both of us), but in my opinion, it couldn't have been a better experience.

The gun is in the mail and I hope I will see the new addition to a fine gentleman's collection posted in pictures here after the USPS does its part.

There are still honorable buyers and sellers, and I think you are more likely to find them here than just about anywhere else, I did, and I wasn't even looking to sell.

My handle "I should know better" only reflects what I usually think after I hit the submit button.

I know in ANY GROUP you will have a bad apple so try not to paint us all with the same brush.
Its a member who is selling an estate. I contacted him about a Government Model he had posted pictures of and ask if it was for sale. He told me it was going up for sale. Said he was planning in listing on the WTS forum on here.
Integrity is everything. Without it you have nothing.
I have bought a few Colts found on this forum, never any trouble.
Good communications is a must.

Don't upset yourself. Thus too shall pass. But I would cancel the money order. If you could not tryst them on the deal why would they keep thier word anout sending the check back. Good luck.
