I just bought a 3rd gen SAA with a 7 1/2" barrel. It's the only one I have in that barrel length. I was all excited about buying it, then after I got home I started thinking I don't love that long tube like I first did. I'm kinda sorta maybe thinking about a 4 3/4" tube for this gun.

Anybody else ever have this dilema? Ever change the barrel yourself? Best place to get a barrel?

I'd put a few rounds down the tube before doing anything to it. I like the 4 3/4"~4 5/8" barrel lengths, but I am awfully fond of the longer barrels when the range increases. I keep a good stable of each length.

As Bob said, why not give the 7 1/2 a chance. I like that length myself.

I've changed barrels in SAA's myself, but you will be chastised on here for even thinking about doing it yourself.

E bay always seems to have barrels.

Yeah, don't try it. You can scuff the finish even with a sleeved barrel vise. BTDT!
