Everywhere I've searched tells me the Cobra serial number should have a LW somewhere. I have one with a naked ejector rod with a 31XXX serial number. What do I have? It says Colt Cobra on the barrel, so I should have that part right.

If the frame is aluminum alloy, then the gun is a long grip frame Cobra, even if the LW stamp was missed. From the serial number, it is a 1954. It should still have the dual tone finish in the cylinder flute recesses and around the edges of the entire frame. It should also have the 2nd pattern dark matte brown Coltwood stocks.

Mistakes happen, even at Colt ;)
I have a near mint 1952 Cobra with no matting serrations which should be on the borders of the rear sight trough. They should be there, but they aren't.
