Hello,I own two Colt 1878 revolvers. The first one I bought is the 1902 Alaskanmodel, I know it's other name too, and I believe it works in both double AND single action. Unfortunately I do not have access to that one, since Ihad to take a contract job 450 miles from home.My 2nd Colt 1878 was made in 1881, it works in DOUBLE ACTION ONLY.Is the mechanism faulty??? Shouldn't it work in both double AND SINGLEaction????? I recently won the 2nd one at auction, I received it yesterday. The seller said he would take it back if it isnt working correctly, which is nice!Thank you in advance!!!Roger

Yes, they can be shot in single action too just like modern revolvers.
