Can anyone help date this for me? It has been reblued (okay shooter job) as it was brown and yellow coated at one point. Do not have any desire to mount it on anything but a colt frame and they are pretty hard to find apparently. I will probably let it go but not sure what to ask for it. Front sight is still "in the white" from the reblue. I was going to take it off and flat black it but no motivation since it is going away. TIA

I believe the box dates to the mid-1970, but how far either side I don't know. I bought one just like that for a friend in the same box that was large enough for a 6" Python. It had the correct label on the end of the box, but a far cry from the original boxes the units were packed in.

My 1972 Series 70 .45 came in the rectangular box with lift off lid that was about the size of the pistol. My 1975 Series 70 .38 Super Auto came in the styro-insert box like shown. My brother had a conversion unit that came in same box, not sure of date.

Do you have the number 2 slide stop?
