Colt 38 super factory engraved?

I have this colt 38 super pre-war serial 24974 engraved but i will like to know more information about it the only thing i know is the person before me purchase this pistol in a gunshop very long time ago and she purchase as is, so i will like to know if the engraved is factory made or after market because i dont have the letter or the box.

Remove grips and check for evidence of engravers mark or signature.

Order an archives letter to know for sure.

I seem to remember similar engraving on Star and Llama pistols. Might the engraving have been done in Spain?

Op, Does it comes with a box or any data from looking up the SN.
In general and with the grip-panels in particular, It looks like a Mexican Bar-B-Que gun to me. And I intend that in all of the best ways. I'd be ALL OVER that piece if it inspected well in-hand.

We see much the same fairly often here in Border country. They draw damn-high money for the competition existing with Mexican Cowboys. Weirdly - or not - elsewhere in the country the demand/desire is significantly less.

On first-blush, I'd say the engraving is custom and the panels were bought separately.

I agree with saintclair doesn’t look factory to me either.
