Thanks Dogface. I have this saved on my computer and I use it all the time. How can we get one up to 2016 at least?

Our Forum member, What would you say, posted the following information on latest Colt SAA SN's a short while ago. Here is the important part of that post:

S75537A is the serial for the P1850
Colt said their date on it was April 29th 2017.

This shows about 10,000 SAA's have been sold since 2011. That is on average about 1667 SAA's per year.
Do the math to get good estimates beyond 2011.

For what it's worth, last spring I sold S75121A, a P1850, to a forum member and Colt told me it was from Aug 2014.

I have SAA with S/N SA65184 which should be from late 1982 according your list. Now I received the Archive letter which states date of shipment as February 18. 1986. Funny, since this is my birthday even when I'm a little older.
Question now ist, was that gun lying around for more than three years before it was send to Germany or is the S/N listing not correct.

I own a colt saa in .45 colt. It`s # SA 47021. Makes it made in 1981? I bought it used/new in 1989. Had the solid bushing. The cylinder charge holes were bored sloppy large and fired cases were bulged and had to be hammered out. I sent it back to colt with the request for a cylinder with the removable bushing. They sent me back the gun with a new cylinder with the removable bushing numbered to the gun along with the old cylinder with the same numbers. They didn't charge me a dime and I believe the shipping was free!

I have serial numbers SA73519, SA73520, and SA73521. The information presented here would make me think they are 1988, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have information on these numbers.

I'm not having the Colt serial number lookup website to work on any number I've put in lately.

I'm looking at S86256A. Probably a very new one. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

I can't say for sure, but I just reserved a 4.75" that my store just received this week that's several hundred numbers after that one. I'd say either late 2018 or 2019.

I have 4 3/4" FSS SA67495 made in 1984, box is marked as 1 of 25, it has the BP frame and Ivory grips w/ medallions. As a companion piece I have 4 3/4" FSS S47953A made in 2007, both are blue and case and aside from the earlier FSS being rolled and the later FSS being etched panel and rubber grips are near identical.
Snidely, I also have a 45 4 3/4" 84914SA made in 1977, weird thing is though, it has a cross pin frame but came to me unfired with a case hardened hammer and the donut ejector rod head, no mention of either on the box or anything out of the ordinary. I always chalked it up to being early third gen production and using up leftover parts from the Centennial run.

This is crazy. Colt needs to get a handle on their serial numbers! I bought my NIB SAA (P1850) serial # S75535A in June 2017. I looked at it for at lease 3 months, I was waiting for my local gun (FFL) shop's price to come down, $2,399.99. Yes, $500+ over MSRP. My best guess is that the gun was made late 2015-16, sat at Colt, and shipped end of 2016. My FFL has a line to Colt and they receive 1-2 SAA a year, as well as the new Cobra's, King Cobra's and 1911's.
