these 3rd Generation serial numbers confuse me more and more. When I posted something in this thread Why no Rampant Horse on my 2007 SAA? How many black... I noticed that my 5,5" .45 Colt SAA with SA64184 has a strange S/N. According Don Wilkerson in his book on 3rd Generation SAA's it is from 1982, Colt's online Serial Number look up shows 1986 which makes mor sence to me since that gun has the 150th anniversary medallions. The archiv letter states shipping date February 1986 to Germany. I always thought that I can rely Don Wilkerson's data but with the S/Ns it seems that he was wrong. 😕

Also, I've learned that the Colt Website only has the serial numbers for the SAA up to S59975A stored in their database, so that's why many searches may turn up nothing at all.
