I have a Colt 45 SAA 7.5 " manufactured in 1978, second year of 3rd Generation.

I am trying to find out the proper box that originated with it from the factory. A description would be good; a picture would be better.

I also am looking for a source(s) for buying such a box.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Welcome to the Colt Forum Burt. Dyogi put it right there for you. That's exactly what you are looking for. You have to give him a pat on the back for that one.
Ebay is a good source for the simulated woodgrain sleeved boxes. The inserts are a two piece styrofoam. A quick search on gunbroker will yield a few examples of what that looks like. fake labels are on ebay as well. Many of us can spot the fake label like a wart on the nose of a purty lady... just stands out.. but for anyone not into Colts, it works. I'm one that likes having the box with the gun too and people can say what they want, the box helps it sell, although it doesn't technically add any value to the gun if its not the original box.
