I picked up a well used older Colt Agent (#131xxx) with a Colt marked factory hammer shroud on it. What's odd is the factory stamping of "A.S.P." on the bottom of the grip frame. I hate to put $125 in a letter for this revolver, so does anyone have a guess as to what the letters are for? Any help will be appreciated! I can send a picture to interested parties.
Thanks,
Mike

This could stand for anything from Alabama State Police, to somebody's initials.

Unless a collector recognizes the mark, about the only way to tell would be a factory letter, and then even they wouldn't know if the mark was added post-factory.

It's not at all unusual to find marks that LOOK like a factory job, but aren't.
