A special order Army Special with a checkered back strap, trigger and checkered walnut stocks:
That's a beauty
Cased Colt Army Special #4541** in .41 Colt
Shipped to Moore-Handley Hardware of Birmingham, Alabama on July 28, 1922 as one of two guns of the same type
I notice this 1927 32-20 AS has a smooth non-checkered latch. I have a '27 AS in 32-20 and it also has no checkering on the latch. I found another 1927 AS 32-20 on Gunbroker and again no checkering on the latch. Do yo have any idea what the deal is with this? I thought they went to smooth latches on the Official Police in the 50s but the pre-war AS and OPs were all checkered. What gives?
