I couldn't find a photo thread dedicated specifically to the Army Special. I know how popular they are and how much we love them in all calibers and barrel lengths. So, post 'em if ya got 'em!

This one is a nicely patina'ed 1923 in .38 Special caliber.

I have a 1908 Army Special but from what I have gathered, the grips are not original; the early Army Specials had rubber grips. Any experts here that can educate me on this?

I'm not an expert, but here is a link to where I look for info on Colts at coltfever.

Army Special

"Grips were black hard rubber with molded in checkering and Colt logos until 1923 when checkered walnut with silver Colt medallions became standard."

Beautiful! Also at $18.69 each, I'll take one in each barrel length and caliber! Lol

Four years on the shelf at Colt.... and a loooong time after the official Police was introduced.
Colt Army Special 32/20 Factory Letter & Box

The Army Special was replaced with the Official Police in 1926 however several years later the management at Colt found that they had a large group of Army Special parts that were still in stock and decided to clean them out. These serialized around the 388,000-389,000 range. They were all placed in the two-piece boxes, as opposed to the standard boxes with lids, and shipped out at discounted prices to large distributors like Hutson Sporting Goods.

Stumbled upon this beautiful 1910. It is not my first revolver however it is my first Colt. Craftmanship is impeccable! The hardened blue screws trigger and top of hammer cap it off. Although intended to be a soldier's firearm. I now see why Colt is the Gentleman's firearm.

I love Army Specials. Here is an early one.

This one is from 1919.

Here's a later model from the 20s.

Here's an early one in 41 Colt.

Here's a spiffy 1920 model that was engraved around 2004.

I have missed viewing this window sill for a very long while. I thought I was MIA for two years but it turns out to be four. Dang me. Beautiful works of art sir.

1914 I think, I’ll have to go back and look. I think last time she was out I had a tough time getting it to cycle. No problem with snap caps, but I don’t think she liked 38 special. Anyone have the right ejector rod head? I’m missing it on this, an agent and two 1899 colt DA

Any answers on rod heads, or problems cycling with 38 special?
