I couldn't find a photo thread dedicated specifically to the Army Special. I know how popular they are and how much we love them in all calibers and barrel lengths. So, post 'em if ya got 'em!

This one is a nicely patina'ed 1923 in .38 Special caliber.

Yes, very nice for sure!

Here is one in .38 special from 1910 that is beautiful to me despite her age-related imperfections.
Still has that nice old fire blue!
I really like the hard rubber grips; my Army Special has them too.

Anyone know anything about this pistol? it’s a m1917 original barrel stamped same serial number chambered in 45acp. The Barrel has been cut down but it has a factory colt sight on it. Was wondering if anyone knew as I’ve seen photos of fritz specials with the same sight. Pistol is super tight and trigger super smooth.
thank you

Here is one also from 1910. Look at the Colt sign on the side.

Collectors refer to this Rampant Colt logo as the stylized C logo. It was used from 1910 though 1912.

Cam,
what surpises me: The early Army Special has the rounded cylinder catch - the New service got this style so much later (I just changed it on my NS)

Other than a few of the engraved or inscribed Colts this is the only Colt that I recall where the Rampant Colt logo was replaced with another marking from the factory. They were supplied to the City of New York Bureau of Water Supply:

OK, I thought that you were referring to the logo. Yes, the latch changed with different models as to when they were applied.

This is very, very special - never even heard about it.

Just picked-up this nice Army Special from a local dealer. It was on consignment at a very favorable price. Definitely not a collector, but certainly an excellent shooter.

This is no collector piece, but I picked it up anyway. Made in 1913 and wearing a terrible set of grips that don’t fit at all. Chambered in .38, not sure if S&W or Colt.

It's pretty rough, but this old Army Special was carried by my grandfather as a Maine game warden in the Allagash, before and during WW2. It has seen a lot of country, but is still a good shooter.

One man's rough is another man's well worn. Excellent old gun, and great heirloom.
