I went to a local show today and ran into a friend who sells a few guns from his collection from time to time. I took a near mint factory nickel S&W M37 with the idea I might find something I liked better and my friend had a like new unfired .32 Cobra made in 1953 that was calling my name.

I wasn’t looking to get into .32 but why not. I looked around the show and went back and did an even swap. Neither came with the box or papers but I don’t really care about that.

Unfortunately the original grips were plastic and had shrunk and cracked and a set of rubber grips came on it.I ordered an original set of Colt wood period grips and will replace the rubber when they come in.

It took a little work to get a the dried oil out of it. It had been setting for 71 years. The action is working nicely but there’s some old gummy oil that needs flushed out of the shaft the cylinder rotated on. It’ll make a nice project for this week. I don’t think I’ll do any disassembly, just soak and flush it out with gun scrubber and penetrating oil.

Edit: New grips arrived today and look great and I finally got all the old oil out and it’s running great.
