I am aquiring a 70's era Colt LW Commander and was wondering the advisability of +P ammo in it. No-No, occasionally, or OK?
Thanks.

You should fire +P very little in your LW Commander. I have fired a small amount through my 1978 LW without a problem but I wouldn't want to push my luck. If you are going to carry yours with +P I would test it with just enough to make sure it operates OK but then practice with normal pressure ammo. You will also want to check for stress damage to your frame after shooting it...

Thanks 45man. I was replyin above tongue-in-cheek, I hope I didn't come across crass. I was just wondering as I never had a LW Commander, only steel framed ones. 230 Hydra-Shoks are what I plan on carrying and 230 ball for play.

I have also used +P on rare occasion but usually stick to the standard pressure stuff. The regular pressure .45 acp hollow-point is probably more than enough in most cases and is much easier to control while firing and of course easier on your gun...
