So i stopped into a LGS for the first time and amidst all the black plastic guns there it was a 98% Colt commando 2 inch barrel parkerized....Bingo! until i see the price $1,995.... i am not familar with this revolver and wanted to ask all of you as to what you think the fair value is. His asking price seemed high.... is this a rare gun and what should i pay if i indeed go back and make an offer.... thanks.

$2,500..... no shi* , well no box papers, what would be a fair offer?Marko
We would need to know if it is a legit 2" and not rebarreled. A letter from colt would be the best way to determine it. Is there any way you could post a photo of the right side of the barrel? That will help us determine the value based on what it says.

Please get the serial number and report that too. That may (or may not) help us determine if the gun is original as configured or a postwar rebarrel.

There are a few threads on the forum dealing with two-inch commandos. You should search for those to read further comments.

I have one of these that is seemingly unfired. I paid over $3K for it a couple of years ago. It will be worth more than that before I sell it.

Ok so i went back to the shop today and looked the gun over and ran the serial # on Colts site but that of course came up with many diff things including the Commando 1942. Also there were no ord marks on the frame and i informed him that it could be a fake or re-barreld.... he told me he did the research and some of the early one didn't have the ord mark on them. He then called Colt and had them on speaker phone and they indeed confirmed that the serial # 43220 IS INDEED A 1942 2 INCH Commando. I thought to myself you don't see too many of these and i was able to get the revolver for a decent price Should i get an expedited letter for this one? the grips are as new.... The guy informed me that he gets in Colt allot and that four weeks ago he got in a Colt Cobra 1st gen new in the box that he sold for $900 I gave hime my # to call me when he gets more in . In fact he has a Nickle DS shrouded barrel in good condition and he will let me know tomorrw if he can sell it to me, whata a good price?
