Thanks DFrame.

They've added quite a few since I last checked, and evidently sold one which used to be posted, but wasn't on your list.

we now have:

16 serial numbers
all either 4.75 or 5.5 bbls
all 45 colts
range of sn from 1307 to 14948, all sn have TF prefix

Market Update

Last weekend I attended the Ohio Gun Collectors Assoc. show in Wilmington, Ohio. My sole purpose was to locate as many Colt Cowboy's as possible and to see what the average selling price was. I also took along my 4-3/4" to see if there was any "Buy" interest in the piece(although I was not interested in selling). To my surprise, I located just one Cowboy, and it was the more common 5-1/2" model selling for $850. There was alot of dealer interest in my 4-3/4", but not at $850, more in the $650-750 range.
At the auction sites, it looks like a 50-50 split between the 4-3/4" and the 5-1/2' this time, with a total of eight Cowboy's found ranging between $750-$1000.
More in a month or so.

Thank you for participating.

30 serial numbers and counting, but 1 is questionable due to the poor photograph I took the serial number from.

add this to the data base please...

.45 Colt, 5 1/2", Case hardened, s/n TF06882
Well now. I just scanned the 3 big auction sites, and found the same one, and just added it to the data list. I came here to see if there was any other new input, and there you were with the same serial number !!.

We now have 31 serial numbers. The range is from TF020XX through TF14948 for sure. One of the serial numbers that I took from a poor quality image I THINK is TF15704. The 704 part was ok, the first 2 digits were very hard to read.

So this limited survey says that around 15,000 were made for sure, maybe more, assuming all serial numbers were used.

So far all are .45 Colt. Most have 5 1/2" barrels. Six are reported to have 4 3/4" barrels, and NO 7 1/2" barrels have been reported to date.

Most are case hardened frame, 3 blue frames have been reported, all below SN TF09000.

One set of walnut stocks has been reported, the rest are the black "plastic" type.

Thanks to everyone for participating. Your continued input is appreciated.

I'm sorry if you've seen all these before, but I thought I'd add them since some seem unique:

Here's one that is alleged to be a Custom Shop Cowboy: http://www.gunsamerica.com/97688959...un-Auctions/Pistols/Colt-Single-Action-Revolvers-3rd-Gen/Colt_Custom_Cowboy.htm

Here's a 4 3/4": http://www.gunsamerica.com/97071054...com/970710544/Guns/Pistols/Colt-Single-Action-Revolvers-3rd-Gen/Colt_Cowboy.htm

Another one with faux ivory grips (don't know if they are after market or Colt): http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=122180120

I saw those but couldn't find a serial number...
The "custom shop" one listed by the Iowa Gun Shop has been there for quite a while.
Thanks for the info
