I really prefer the Colt DS over the Smith J frames and even over the Smith K frame snubbies. The grip is large enough for good control, still small enough to fit in a pocket and six rounds instead of five.

Thanks for the pictures, jar! I haven't ever owned a DS; a Cobra and several S&W 36's, but no DS. Im sure they shoot very well, indeed. I know I was amazed with my old Cobra. (sadly, I traded it off long ago in a galaxy far away when I was young and not quite as dumb as I am now!)

jar,
We share the same opinion. The Colt DS/Cobra are my all time favorite pistols. They fit my small hands perfectly and point and balance superbly. I also like the Police Positive. I have always been disappointed that Colt discontinued making them but being PC in these times could be a matter of corporate survival and alas, I understand. I hope you enjoy shooting yours as much as I enjoy shooting mine. CC

Like the classic look and feel of the DS, but it's a S&W 642 that gets the CC duty.
