I purchased the CDB noted in the previous posting s/n D69731.
Is there a way to find yr of mfg, original finish w/o spending the $75 for an archive letter.
The original finish is critical in determining whether I have gotten slightly screwed or a good deal.
Even if "screwed" this is a beautiful piece and I would not be unhappy with the purchase

First off congratulaions on getting your Diamondback.
It was built in 1975.
Is there a way to tell if it's factory finish, the answer is yes. Take off the stocks and if it is factory nickel there should be an "N" stamped on the left frame, just above the stock locator pin. All my nickel DBs have it, now I am not all that sure about "electroless nickel", it may have and "EN" stamp. It may have other stamps there such as, "K", "L", or ever "INS", these are assembly stampings, but the "N" should be very noticable.
Let me know what you have found.
Sorry, I didn't think about the "N" stamp before, but I thought you may have just been "shopping". Now that it's yours, you can look.
