Saw this gun for $448 at a local Gander Mountain. It was in excellent shape. I may have one too many "0"s (should have written it down but my wife busted me and made me move on /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif) . Any idea of the age and series? I looked at the site on the stickie but didn't see it listed. I'm guessing 4th generation. TIA. Russ

You'll have to call Colt on this one.
The publicly available Colt serial number references end in 1985.

The last "D" frame number shown at the beginning of '85 was AB02310.

If you call Colt during normal business hours, they will give you a date over the phone, but NO other info.

Thanks. I sensed it had to be much younger than my '72. The emblem was much more defined although the action did not feel as smooth.
