I just purchased a Colt Frontier single action 22 cal with "G" serial number (G197475). (Not a "Q" Serial Number.)

I am thinking about acquiring a 22 Magnum (22WMR) cylinder for the weapon if it will work with my revolver. The barrel has a rounded crown suggesting that it was bored for the 22WMR cartridge.

So far I have found nothing on line about the "G" serial numbered revolvers or their 22WMR compatibility.

Can any forum members shed any light on this question?

Read my posts about the Colt .22 single action revolvers in the Colt Historical Studies section.

The Colt Peacemaker .22 and New Frontier .22 revolvers with serial numbers under G200000 were designed for use with .22 LR and .22 Magnum cartridges when the proper cylinder was installed. Your New Frontier .22 will happily digest .22 Magnums. You will find them a lot louder than .22 LR and quite a bit more expensive, though.
