Back in the day when Colt was shipping the 1908 380 Hammerless to dealers
they would often send many at a time, like 50 for example for a Police
department. I was wondering what that shipping box or crate might look like.
Anyone ever see one, or a picture of one? 5 or six in a small box sounds
reasonable or would they use a large crate?

Would like to see a picture of one or even a diagram.

Just my take on it, but I would imagine Colt constructed the crates to fit the order rather than there being one size fits all. This was in the days that the large orders were shipped by Railway Express, and the shipping containers had to be robust enough to stand the rigors of being shipped by rail.
