rebuilt this king cobra from a frame found in a dump,fires fine. had to drill out the crane lock screw as it was rusted in. I did not drill to the threads as i know that is a big no-no, what i cannot find information on is the size of the tap i need to 'rethread' so i can insert the 3 necessary parts to keep the cylinder from falling out. i know it is a 40 tpi but what is the size of the tap and die i need to use? colt customer service is worthless these days and can barely tell me what years the parts are from with the serial numbers let alone any real information, they told me the replacement parts were made in 1993 which if you know the history of the KC that is improbable, but i digress. anyone knowing the answer to the riddle will be given a fruitcake that i got last year for xmas. thanks in advance!

The thread size is .250"-40 fine thread.

Keep the fruitcake, I think Federal law prohibits shipping hazardous material interstate.

my friend actually found it along with a few chopped in half rifles and a fully functional browning .32 i believe he said it was (haven't seen it). i paid him 120 for the frame and 500 for the parts on GB.

thanks dfarriswheel, i shall put the fruit cake in the dump where the frame was found and the dump is right down the road from my house, a scrapyard moreso. it was probably a stolen gun or worse... this is what it looked like when i got it after cleaning it up a little,

i then soaked it in gasoline/PB blaster/WD40 mix for a while and it even had its original firing pin which after rebuilding and dry firing oozed out some rust and freed up like nothin' ( no need to send off to colt for the infamous factory only change.)
