For what its worth, just asked D.M. Bullard (the link above) to make a holster for my new M45A1 and they told me they are unable to do it. I just bought about six other holsters and mag holders from them so they were motivated.

Have you considered Galco, they make a model called "Phoenix" and I use one to holster a Colt Railgun. Fitment is excellent, very nice leather, and is designed for standard carry or cross-draw.

Thanks, following up. Its quite clear from my Internet research (yeah, I know) that the Marine Colts do NOT fit the same holster as the Colt rail guns. My LGS is bringing in his Galco Fletch to see if they fit...pistols arrive today per the tracking info. Many more phone calls to make today to see who can/will make up a holster. I do have my old El Paso Tanker holster it might fit, just not a good thing for concealed carry.

Okay, the pistol is here and beautiful and flawless for the first 100 rounds and dead on aim and it DOES fit the Galco Fletch 212. It does not however fit the El Paso Tanker holster.

This is the Galco Fletch.

Also stumbled onto a BlackHawk Nylon Alaska Guide holster in Colt Government 1911 size and my M45A1 fits it perfectly. One more holster to add to the list.

marrunred,

Did you ever find what the Marines use as issued holster for the M45A1? I would like to have one just to go with the gun.

I am using the Bianchi Holster which the Military use for their Beretta 92. It fits in firm but fits

Let me know if you find anything better

I decided to go with the Galco Fletch FL212 high ride holster, problem was it was going to be on backorder, so while the Galco was on order I also ordered one in stock from MidwayUSA.com https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019469547?pid=173062 Product #: 173062
Manufacturer #: 44566
UPC #: 730745445667 Triple K 440 Lightning Strong side/crossdraw holster to use until the Galco got here. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this Triple K holster and the Colt M45A1 CQBP Marine fit perfectly. I wrapped it in some wax paper and holstered in a couple of days then began working it in and out and around inside the holster which is breaking in nicely with the exception of the sharpness of the Novak Night Fision front sight blade still cutting in a bit.

Odd. "Lightning" was once a hard-won trademark (from Colt) of Bianchi Holsters'; why and when did they let it get away from them? P.S. the wax paper thing is a myth like the plastic bag, for improving fit: it's the pistol itself that reshapes the holster, the purpose of paper or bag was to keep the wet holster from affecting the metal of the pistol (and you didn't wet it, did you). The extra layer does nothing at all for the holster itself.
