Thou shalt not covet......Damn!
Thou shalt not covet, thou shalt not covet... repeat as necessary.

uh, err, what I meant to say was:

I WANT ONE TOO. THAT IS, I WANT ONE IN EACH BARREL LENGTH ... and one in each finish ... and one each with each type of stocks .... and each type of hammer, and one with a 2-digit serial number. and with one with the serial number being the year of my birth, .... , etc. etc., ad nauseum.

There, I fixed it for you! lol

Mine are in Davey Jones' locker due to that tragic boating accident.

I appreciate the help guys. Filled out the form for colt archives. Also noticed that the pistol has the # 1 engraved below the serial #, and the letter L to the bottom left of the serial # area. If that helps. Thanks

The best way to really know is a letter... 357 Nickel revolvers are very rare... Funny I was reading back to the beginning of this thread and remembering where I came from as a new collector. I started back in the day a 50's era Python and 357 collection. Not done but getting closer:

Needed:
1. 1955 Python
2. 1958 Python
3. 1955 3 5 7 6”
4. 1955 3 5 7 4”
5. 1956 3 5 7 6”
6. 1956 3 5 7 4”
7. 1957 3 5 7 4”
8. 1958 3 5 7 4”
9. 1958 3 5 7 6”
10. 1958 Python

My last 357:

Finally got around to ID’ing a Colt that’s been in the family for 4 generations. Turns out it’s a 1954 Model 357, S/N 32xx. Not in the best of shape with some wear but all original and the bore is beautiful.

I've enjoyed the information and photos in this thread reference the 3 5 7 model Colts. I recently acquired a 1959 manufacture 3 5 7 model. It was carried in LE for years, and refinished at some point. Mechanically very solid, I installed some aftermarket grips to replace the modified and badly worn originals.

I have the original box, but wonder what paperwork would have come with the 3 5 7 model of the late '50s era?
