Colt - Police Positive - "Pequeno" marked - .32 Police - 4" barrel - Excellent plus condition. - 99% original bright nickel; very good bore; excellent mech & hard rubber grips. Excellent markings. I’m nearly certain the "PEQUENO" marking hand gun on the right side of the barrel is bogus, and it’s probable the small "B" on the rear of the left side of the barrel is also a later addition. This s/n is a bit early for the rare "PEQUANO" variation, plus Colt used the latter spelling w/ an "A" rather than "E" on the legit guns, and supposedly on the left side of the barrel rather than the right. There is a large "B" stamped in the frame crane cutout, which does look as if it may be legit, which may have inspired someone with a bit of larceny (or, more charitably, whistfulness) in their heart to "enhance" this lovely little gun w/ the extra markings. On the other hand, I’ve never seen a genuine PEQUANO, or if I have I didn’t pay it any attention, so I can’t say definitely on this one. - The true Pequano is a rare marking variation used on some 2nd quality Police Positives, sold in the South American market. The "B" marking was reportedly used by Colt to indicate 2nd quality. As an eternal optimist, I’ll price this in hopes that mebbe it’s a REALLY rare sub-variation of the Pequano that an advanced Colt collector will recognize, and will later reduce it if that seems indicated. I’ll throw in a quite entertaining letter by the dealer that sold this gun to the previous owner that demonstrates remarkable tap-dancing skill in its ability to avoid saying outright that the gun is faked. I guess not unlike this description, now that I think about it. - s/n 198221 - FFL - item # HC-PQ8221 - $435
