About what was the year that the Colt Detective Special labeled box made the change from the Colt Police Positive Revolver label (with the DETECTIVE SPECIAL Label on top)? I have an earlier box with the Police Positive label with number 461176 on the bottom - c1938. Thank you, Jackson

The Detective Special label on the top lid started in 1927.

Thanks. Were there any pre war DS boxes that were just labeled Colt Detective Special and not with the Police Positive label with the DS white label?

No, not that I have ever seen.

Wow! Thank you - nice boxes and great pics. The reason I asked was that Gary Peers' Book on Snub -Nose Colts shows a Detective Special Labeled box c1929-1936 thru 1946 with a lighter blue label (p203). I have seen this style label on early post war boxes and was just checking to see if anyone actually has this style labeled box, especially pre-war. Thanks again, Jackson.

The lighter blue labels were used post war. I have never seen a correct pre war box with the lighter blue label.
