I have a Colt PPS .38 Special CTG, serial #501... that my grandfather carried as a reserve sheriff officer in the 1950's/60's.
Attached are a photo with the grips removed. My question is are they original to this gun? The backside of the grips are clearly marked COLT PPS and marked Anzite. I believe the gun was manufactured around 1948.
Any help would be appreciated.

No, not original. These are Franzite aftermarket grips that have been made since 1930s, but were really popular in the 50s and 60s.

If this gun was made in 1948, it likely shipped with second generation Coltwood which is essentially brown plastic with spots of red.

Thank you. Suspected the were aftermarket as the tops of the grips are not flush with the frame. Still a great piece of family history and a very nice shooter.
