Is it just me or are prices on pre 1945 Colts soaring again? I kinda take a average of Internet, Gun Show, and Gun Shop prices and they seem to be soaring on 1911s and 1911A1s. Good news for collectors who already have some, but bad news for those folks that want to get into the game.

Prices on all discontinued Colts continue to go up and up. That is true with all collectable guns. They go up and up as time passes, both because of inflation and supply and demand. With more people collecting all the time, natural attrition, inflation and the "Bubba" factor mentioned by stans, the price naturally goes up.

Remember the old gun collectors adage: You cannot pay too much, you can only buy too early.

If you think they are too high now, do you really expect them to come down? Buy what you want now because it will not get less expensive in the future. (Unless there is some legislation that would forbid sale, etc.)
