What is your favorite Colt SAA clone? A friend of mine just bought a Standard Manufacturing SAA and I have to admit it's a beautiful, well done clone. But if I was going to spend 2K plus on a clone I'd rather hold out for the real thing. The Colt SAA has been my hands down favorite Colt for decades. The best IMO are the 2'nd Gen examples with their better steels. I have a few 3'rd Gen SAAs and they are not bad. I recently saw a current production one at a LGS and a Colt stocking dealer and the case colors were horrid looking almost like rust. Now most Cowboy Action shooters I know either shoot Italian clones or Rugers, and I can understand why as real Colts are to valuable to abuse. At least with the Italian clones you can shoot and holster them forever and not worry about hurting the value. Later I've been looking at the Italians and some are rather interesting to buy as shooters. The EMF Hartford Models seem fairly close and the older short lived AWA Peacekeepers are even closer. So close that Colt sued them and they only lasted a short time. Here are a couple I recently spotted. The Hartford Model even has the Black Powder frame. The AWA Peacekeeper I'm still trying to figure out what the grips are.
