Colt SAA clones

The USFA I had was a far better gun that either the 2nd or 3rd gen Colts I owned at the same time.
When I went looking for a clone I waited until I found a shooter USFA. I will probably get another Colt eventually but I wanted a gun that was sure to be mechanically excellent that I could put some wear on without worry.

OP's grips look like buckeye burl. I agree that the grips are a little busy for my tastes

Since I wrote this a few months ago I have since purchased the Standard Mfg. SA in my avatar, and sold my last Colt SAA. I might still get another Colt, but the USFA and now the Standard Mfg. are such good guns compared to the Colt's I've owned that unless I come across a good one at a fire sale price, I think i'll probably end up with an Uberti Model P in .44 spcl, unless I can find a Pietta in that caliber.

The USFA edges out the Std. in build quality by just a hair,
The Std edges out the USFA in the action, much lighter
The Std is a better shooter than the USFA, shooting to POA while the USFA is pretty far off.

I will say that I'm disappointed that both USFA and now Standard have gone the Uberti route and eliminated the ejector housing boss on the barrel. AFAIK Colt and Pietta are the only mfg's still using the boss instead of just drilling and tapping directly into the barrel like Uberti, USFA, and Standard do.
