First time posting, apologies if i posted in the incorrect category. Ive had this six gun for the last 30+ years. The location where the colt stampings would have been are worn off. I sent for a letter but recives notice that information pertaining to that serial number range are no longer available. So...now maybe you all can provide commentary on the authenticity of it. If additional pics are needed of a certain area just let me know.

The firing pin looks really long and incorrectly tapered. The ejector rod head looks too thin also, most likely a Mexican copy. Would love to know what those initials are on the cylinder just above what looks like two 4's.

Again, I think the cylinder is Colt. Marked with the Mexican sunburst and R M (Republic of Mexico). Now stuck in a colt copy. The 44 is probably the caliber. The ejector housing MAY also be Colt.
The cylinder is in such rough shape it doesn’t really matter if it’s originally manufactured by Colt, or not. The entire revolver is no more than a wall hanger at this point.

Stuck? That is a great gun with a lot of history. I have over 50 First Generation Colt SAA’s and would be happy to have one like that.

Could the frame be Colt? Also, is there an assembly number under the frame (inside the gun) that matches any on the inside of the loading gate?

No, part of the makers name is visible on the frame…”GA”
