Colt SAA Values?

My passion is the SAA and have been a little obsessed for about 30 years, however life got in the way about 2 years ago. Honestly, I don't think I even opened my safe for about a year. Before then I was pretty active on this forum and felt very confident in assessing values regardless of generation, age, condition, etc.

So, I am trying to get the "spark" back for my collection and my SAAs in particular. In perusing the various forums and websites, it seems that prices have come down, in some cases dramatically. However, I'm also seeing some seriously expensive SAAs.
In general, would you say the market has come down, stayed the same or increased? I'm sure high condition 1st gens will always hold their value, but I'm wondering about the more garden-variety 1st, 2nd or 3rd gens.

Thank you for your perspective!

A lot of firearms have dropped back in "value" now that the easy Covid money is gone. High end ones, as you point out, are really in demand by those collectors with deep pockets. Rarity still speaks and good condition early SAAs that have not been rebuilt are well into the high thousands if not 5 figures.

My all original engraved nickel plated SAA below, built in 1883, is worth a ton more than I would have ever thought.

We'd love to see some of your collection if you can get the safe open!

The gun market in general is stagnant for the most part. With no fear of a political gun grab, anti gun legislation and more restrictive laws (at least today, as I type this), gun sales are slow and people are spending their money elsewhere. The economy and value of the dollar isn't amazing either, so again, funds going elsewhere for many. Granted, the early high condition guns are still being sought by those with the funds but, for the lower level stuff it's definitely a buyers market. The old Colt's still hold their value and buyers can be found but, it takes a bit longer and it's not the crazy post Covid couple years for sure.

And I second Whig's request for pictures from your collection!! We love the pictures...
