Absolutely gorgeous and looks perfect to me!

How do the Colt experts here compare these newest 3rd Gens with the best 1st & 2nd Gen fit & finish?

Have been lurking around the forum for some time. My dad bought the 3rd Gen SAA pictured for me a few years back. He has been hunting for one for himself so I thought I would jump on the forum, post up a pic, and start my hunt. Great pictures and some awesome history along with those old Colt's!!!

That's a heck of nice dad you've got.
At a local gun show of 50 tables couple weeks ago, this 45 was calling out to me. A little over priced but nice long barrel 45's are rarely seen down under, so i took the plunge.
A call to Paul , and the plunge was worth it.
My first Texas shipped sa.

As mentioned on another thread, the Walter Tips family is still in business in Austin. One of my wife's friends worked at the Tips Iron Foundry in the early 1960s.

Nice looking guns. However, given the fancy wood grain I've seen on a number of examples, it would have been nice if you'd had the stocks varnished. If you do any more (or similar guns), you may want to consider adding fire blue to the cylinder base pin, base pin latch and ejector head. The gun looks half-dressed without them. Still, they're rather handsome pieces.

Well, you are really lucky - I can't find one around here, and I live just a few miles north of Austin. lol

Your SAA was delivered to the Walter Tips Hardware Store which is one of the most treasured old buildings in the city of Austin. Mr. Tips built it in 1876 on Congress Avenue, the main street of the Capital City of Texas.
It has a cast iron front façade, and as the story goes, much of the iron came from recycled Confederate cannon shells (from the American Civil War):

.thanks for the photo, seeing the building where it went, is great.I spoke to the dealer i got it from and he has owned it for near 20yrs. He won it in a deceased estate auction, where it had been a sleeper forever.
Does the Tips buisness have any of the old records from the early 1900's.?

Yes, there is a collection that was donated to the Austin History Center, but it doesn't appear to have the old hardware store sales records:
