Some very nice looking Colts in this thread. I'll add the only two I own at the moment. Though not nearly as nice as the rest, these are unique because they're mine.
Practicing taking pictures this evening. This is my oldest SAA which was shipped on September 28, 1876, to B. Kittredge and Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a history buff, just owning a Colt that shipped three months after the Battle of the Little Big Horn is simply amazing.
I love these guns, They are fun to shoot and fun to collect !!
I added these walnut , checkered, fleur-de-lis, with Colt medallions grips.Think they turned out well and look good.
I am not sure if this is the correct thread to post this, please correct me if I am wrong.
I purchased this box and could not find any information on it. I was wondering if anyone could identify it.
It appears to be a factory pattern and if it's in the 117,000 range Helfricht was certainly in charge during that time. I've been told that he didn't engrave every single action that came out of the factory engraved but rather he would lay the engraving pattern out and a journeyman engraver would do the cutting.
The 117,000 serial range is rich with factory engraved single actions.....I've owned one in the range and have pictures of probably 6 to 8 others in the same range.
