Not having a Colt single action in decades, I bought this Bisley Model a few weeks ago to fill that void. It's .45 Colt, made in 1898.

Gun Firearm Airsoft gun Starting pistol Trigger

Thank you in advanced for the help. I recently got this SAA and am trying to figure out more information on it; particularly year of mfg, generation, and value. Through running the SN# (SA08129) it comes back as a 1956 model. Thus a gen 2...correct? To my novice eye, I consider it in 99%+ condition.

Through looking into it more though, I have come up with some questions. It seems like the box is not accurate for 1956. What I have found is that in '56 they used a black box without foam inserts and this box was not adopted until the 60s or 70s. The SN# on the box matches the gun. Is this the correct box for this SAA?

Also, it is chambered in 44 spl. I read somewhere that the 2nd gen was only doing 45 LC and 38 spl in '56. Is this correct, or is the 44 spl accurate for '56?

Thank you in advanced for the assistance!

Vet2000. I believe yours is an early 3rd gen around 1979. The box is correct for that era and range of guns. If it's clean with not any scuffs if should be worth $2700-$3000.

July or August of 1978 production?

Serial number at the beginning of the year.

1978 90500SA - 99999SA - SA01001

1980 SA30250
@YAHOODY, my initial lookup led me to believe that it was a a 1978 production, but I am not an expert on the SAA. The BBK lists it as 1978.

My thoughts as well. I saw it as a '78 gun. Not sure where Bill got his production date or value. Early 3rd gens are common in .44 Special and both 5.5" and 7.5" versions. $1800 would be top [email protected] $2K you're getting scalped IMO.

Very nice, and good-looking beadwork on those gauntlets.

Hopalong, the grips feel great too. I was actually buying an engraved USFA SAA but this was there too. It was one of those times it felt too good to put down so I ran home for some trade bait and got both. Between the grip shape and that goofy hammer I can get a nice high hold on it.

Who gave her the guns?

Came across these the other day and knew that they were destined for the Colt Forum and the expert opinions of the gentlemen here. Being a novice on these matters there isn't much I can add in the way of insight or expertise other than to simply post the pictures and maybe arouse some interest or debate.
Also feel free to comment about the two SAA replicas. View attachment 273114 View attachment 273122
