I am trying to place these stocks with the correct revolver. It may be a Colt Cobra? I had labeled them as a Cobra, but I have never owned one.

Thanks

Its both for the 1972 and later Colt Detective special and Cobra. Late they went to the un outlined style pictured above.
The blue DS is a ~1974 along with this one ~1974 in nickel (I bought it new and never changed anything):

The blue one is F249xx, and the nickel is F282xx. I guess Colt changed the stocks during this production somewhere between the two?

Thanks. I'm just curious and trying it get it right.

The grips with the grooved border were used on the heavy, shrouded barrel Colt Detective Special and Cobra, starting in 1972.
At some point later, Colt discontinued the grooved border around the checkering.

The same grip, only with a longer butt was also used on the Viper and Police Positive Special.

1974 might be the year, all right. I have a 1974 Cobra which lacks the border around the checkering. I've been curious as to when that changed. Thanks, Vintage Racer.

Well, hotrod150 snuck in there--let's say 1974/75 :)

Thanks,
I also have a 2nd issue Detective Special. It is good:

It also has an un-shrouded ejector rod and very different different stocks.
