Picked up a Trooper MK III at a gunshow last weekend very little holster wear around the muzzle and cylinder. Took it to the range Sunday and it shot nice tight groups with 125 GR Gold Dots. This is my first Colt and I wasn't really looking for one when I went but I'm very glad I found it!!! Can anyone tell me what years these were produced?? My serial number starts 18. I paid $300.00 for it and from what I hear I got a great deal the guy had a SS one for the same price but I missed out on it.

The only thing I can comment on is the "SS" Trooper Mk. III. It was (electroless) nickel; Troopers were never made in stainless steel. I don't have production numbers and I'm not sure if the production date of your gun can be determined with only "starts 18", hopefully someone more knowledgeable will help you there.

Congrats, nice gun BTW. Welcome to the club!
