Just bought a Colt stainless .45 Commander (4091U) new from local gun shop for $970 cash out the door. Decent trigger, 2 magazines, black grips, brand new. Thought that was a fairly good price....is it?

Just picked it up at from a good friend that is downsizing his collection. Got it in a package deal. Probaly won't sell it since I don't have one in 9mm and definitely not in that great shape. Wish I had collected NIB or as new many years ago, instead of quantities.

That's a pretty good price. Not sure where you're located, but in my neck of the woods, you can expect to pay $1000+ before fees and taxes. Congrats!

Thanks everyone, good to know. Wife agreed to let me buy it as a Christmas present (my third Colt in the last 3 months) but I had to agree to let her wrap it up as a present till then...on Dec. 26 I will post a range report! Fair deal all around, I'd say...

I would guesstimate the value at about $1700 to $1800. Getting darn hard to find these complete packages.
