Here's probably the most nauseating news report I have read in a long time. I am disgusted by it.

What the D.C. District Attorney's office is doing to this man is reprehensible.
The blog author is right. These are Stalinistic and Hitlerian tactics.

Some of the reasons our WWII servicemen fought the German and Japanese goverments were precisely to prevent things like this from happening here. I lost family in the concentration camps. Can't defend yourself against a corrupt and self serving prosecutor's office? Then we will wind up being herded into cattle cars too.

i'm not taking any sides here but it is against the law to have those items in the Peoples Republic of DC. as a gun owner I would not live in DC. the blog writer is right these are stalin and hitler like tactics but just look at our president and his administration.

Gee, I want to move there. A crime just to possess a cartridge! I'm surprised that an armored car was not used to protect those 30 SWAT members. I don't even visit these areas just for that reason.

I really feel sorry for the guy and this miscarriage of justice. that said, he knows the law and yet chooses to live in that location. He knows his ex wife is coo coo for coco puffs but leaves himself vulnerable. One has to wonder if there is not more to the story we haven't heard yet.

It'll be a long time before I ever think of spending a dime in Wash. D.C.

If I go to the Smithsonian, the National Zoo, or the Marine Corps Memorial, etc., I'll wait until I leave the city limits to eat or get gas.

Hmmmm, maybe eating will give me gas! ;)

We are living in an extremely dangerous and self serving political climate ie: current political administration. Unless WE THE PEOPLE vote these narcissistic people OUT, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. The past 5 years has proven time and time again the disregard for all things Constitutional. A POTUS that has an agenda to turn this country into a socialist state and minions that will follow him off the cliff. Anyone, through intent or innocently, that doesn't tow their line is in for their brand of punishment. It's frightening. The patriotic core of this country won't stand for much more before the dam breaks and that won't be a pretty confrontation. I can only prey that the people who believe in the freedoms we are guaranteed won't be silent any longer.

You know this thread will be locked shortly, but I had my say. Thanks Mike.

Hard to believe that is an actual place and law in the USA, sounds more like Mexico. This has all the makings of another Heller case. Too bad tax payer money goes to fight for the wrong side.

If one dud shotgun shell = 30 confiscators then my house = They won't all fit in the yard.

(Disclaimer: I own no ammo or guns of any kind, my post was meant in jest.)

This is about the most outrageous and severe thing of it's kind I have read about yet.

But then again too, 'DC' is a world unto itself, and a separate corporation/entity from the larger corporation of the united states, so...beware!

You are so right Malysh. It is sickening to see how stupid the general public is and how even some of our gun owners still vote for that
party.

"but I always vote that way......the union told me to"

The fact that laws like that even exist saddens me. Because of these types of laws, I am no longer welcome in DC. Or NYC, CA, IL, MA, NY, NJ, RI, etc, ad nauseum. Heck, I'm not even welcome at Sam Colt's grave unless I choose to go defenseless. Sad, indeed.

The issue to me is that the P.D. landed on this guy's neck with both boots. A swat team to serve a warrant on a guy with a dud shotgun shell and a box of ammo? Cause 10K worth of property damage serving the felony warrant.
What is he? A Boston bombing co-conspirator? The Unibomber? An Al Qaida member? An escaped killer? The article made no mention of a prior felony record for violent crimes. Under those circumstances, an argument could be made for spending a small fortune to apprehend this "dangerous criminal".
Ridiculous!

Yes, the shells are illegal in D.C., but "Justice D.C. Style" could have been better served by sending him a summons to appear, or if he has an attorney, a call to have the client turn himself in for booking. Or knock on the door instead of breaking two doors in.The actions of the P.D. are overkill and purely facist.
It's like having the Gestapo or the KGB come to your door and whisk you away in the dark.

To call this method of arrest overkill is an understatement.

I took a 12 gage shotgun shell to class in the 6th grade I think it was. I opened the crimp at my desk so I could get the #6 shot out. I wrapped them in tiny pieces of Kleenex and blew them through a straw at my friends just for fun. It was my little blowgun. I couldn't really get any significant velocity out of it. Certainly not enough to hurt anybody. Others would shoot rubber bands and throw erasers etc. when the teacher wasn't looking. I got caught. the teacher came back and took my shotgun shell. The I got paddled in front of the class and got a firm talking to about monkeying around in class. That was it. I didn't get arrested or expelled or anything else but my parents did get informed . I got a little scolded from them also. I never did it again.

This story if true, seems ABSURD and SCARY unless there is something really bad about this guy that the cops knew and we don't.

And this is why you never agree to a warrantless search of your home, person or property. If he had never agreed to the search there would have been no probable cause to obtain a search warrant. No offense intended to any LEO's, but the police are not your friend when they ask to search your home, property or person.
