I dated a girl in the 70's who's dad had a nickeled, 2.5" Diamondback with pearlite grips. I know she has inherited that gun by now. She was always a fascinating girl to me, because of this: Her dad wanted me to pick her out a gun, just for her, that he would buy. I knew she liked the looks of his gun, but had an interest in automatics. I suggested a S&W Model 39 (hot item at the time) in nickel, and we got some synthetic ivory (couldn't find pearl at the time). Well, when she got it, she insisted that I show her how to field strip it and use it that night. She did it about 4-5 times, and could almost do it blindfolded. I was in seventh heaven! A girl that was into guns! Well, it never panned out relationship-wise, but we still regard each other as friends, and bump into each other about once every 10 years. I still think she is/was something special as far gun/girls go. A nickeled Colt Diamondback or S&W 39 nickel always take me back to "remember when".
