Earlierthis year I purchased a 1902 Military - serial 38492 circa 1916. Ran into the seller recently and he sold me a spare magazine (for $65).
The mags are similar but have a couple of differences. Hoping that someone can clue me up on which (or perhaps both??) are correct for this Colt.
The mag in the 1902 when I purchased it (he may have mixed them up?) is marked "MIL COLT 38 CAL". Other is marked "PAT'D SEPT 9. 1884". Retaining slots are similar and both fit perfectly.
I was suprised to see such an early patent date on a Colt mag - 16 years before release of the first semi-auto? John Moses must have been working on this design for a long time.
