I got a 1983 python but it doesnt have a rear sight. Does anyone know what the stock sight was for the '83? Was it the standard Accro sight or some whiteoutlined accro sight or was it the elliason sight. Was it blued? The gun appears to be matte stainless.

Does Jack First or some other parts place sell the sights with the screws ?? Thanks for any info you may have on this.

The correct sight was the Accro, probably with the white outline rear. If the front has an orange insert, the rear would have the outline.

The best place to get an Accro sight is to buy the exact copy made by Kensight.
They make exact copies of the Colt Accro and the Ellison sights and these are indistinguishable from the original Colt sights.
I suspect they bought the company that actually made the sights for Colt.
Otherwise all you'll find are used sights, often with missing springs.

Results for Manufacturers:Colt

I can't guarantee this now since it's possible Ruger has changed them, but older Ruger rear sights used a rear sight blade that was exactly interchangeable with the Colt blade.
You can buy Ruger white outline sight blades from Brownell's and Gun Parts.

dfariswheel, As usual, Thank You for the Good information.

This is my only stainless Python. Although I love the Royal Blue finish, this matte stainless finish is smooth, sleek, and Very nice looking. The lettering including the Vp stamp and the rampant Colt is very clear, and sharp. It came with houge monogrips with the silver Houge medallion. The original colt walnut stocks came with it also. But, the Houges with their medallion really look good on the stainless, and they fit my hand perfectly
