\"D\" Model Police Positive Specials

When did Colt change to a wider grip for the Police Positive Special Model? When did checkering of the trigger of Police Positives begin. It appwars that the Detective Special Model might have gone to a wider grip earlier that the Police Positives? Thanks........

Re: \"D\" Model Police Positive Specials

Henri;this is a problem with any gun on the P.P or P.P.Special frame, the buying of grips, unless you have the gun with you. I had a 1926 vintage(about the time the switch to wood stocks) P.P. Special with the narrow grip frame, but my 1931 D.S.(Sq.Butt)is the wider frame and has a checkered trigger. While someone my give a "definate date",Colt, like other mfgs, did not throw away good parts, and basically made the changes wneh the old ones were used up.This confusion continued with the long & shot butts on the post war Agents, D.S. Cobras, and square vs. rd. butts! Bud
