Dall Sheep horn grips - School me up

I recently saw a photo of some really striking SAA grips done by Paul Persinger (http://www.sixguns.com/range/images/grip6b.jpg) and listed as "bighorn sheep". This led me on a little exploratory search and Dall Sheep horn is probably what I'm looking for.

I contacted a maker of these that I found online requesting info and his response was "I don't have any horn. Do you have any horn?" My request for further info from him was not returned.

Soooo, because that wasn't exactly the tutelage I was seeking, I knew I should come to the source of all knowledge, this forum. Please school me up on Dall sheep horn and bighorn sheep, etc.

Are they the same? Are they readily available? Are they somehow illegal, regulated highly, or otherwise incredibly rare?

I found a few sites selling horns, is it as simple as ordering a horn then shipping it to a maker?

I'm ignorant fellas and appreciative of any and all information.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm not an expert on wild sheep, but I beleive Dall sheep and bighorns are two different things. I can tell you that in my home state of Oregon you have to enter a lottery to draw a sheep tag and you can only get one in a lifetime, also selling of animal parts here is strictly limited by the game laws. For instance a friend of mine had what they call a horn and fur license required by the state to deal in animal parts, He couldn't sell a comple deer or elk rack, ,they had to be split in two. He had a black bear rug which he was not permitted to sell.. A lot of these laws were enacted because of the black market in things such as bear gall bladders which bring big money in Asia.
I'm pretty ignorant about them and posted a pair of Ruger grips on this forum that I found on Ebay to find out what they were. I think "sheephorn" was the most common opinion. And the other day a Ruger collector told me they were sheephorn and I assumed he meant Dall Sheep. Persinger is the only name I've read associated with this material but who knows.

Just don't expect a response within the next century.
Forgive the "R" word but here's some bighorn's Patrick Grashorn did for me. Don't even ask him! He has a waiting list (I'm on it now, waiting for another set!)

There are tons of sheep and different kinds of rams in Texas game ranches. You could probably call a few of them and purchase skulls from them. I am not sure which sheep has the best horn for the job though. My side job is guiding so I will keep an eye out and see if I can find some for you.

Wow! Thank you Jake, that's incredibly kind.

I appreciate all of the info. I guess I'll need to contact a maker and see what they would require to craft them. One horn? Two horns? Specific parts of a horn?

There is very little information that I've been able to find so far.
I just looked on eBay. There were a lot of responses to my search 'sheep horn'. Several big curved single horns offered for carving in the 20 bucks range.
