Delta Elite Sights

I finally found a Delta Elite in stainless I have been after for over a year. Got it used and it cleaned up pretty nice with about 3 hours of work. The plastic trigger is an abomination and I have already ordered a replacement. I will keep the original trigger socked away for originality. I am thinking about changing out the rear and wonder if a standard 1911 part with line up and provide proper sight height to match front. Any suggestions or experience in changing just the rear sight on these?

I'd look at a catalog of Colt parts, and see if the Delta sight is a different part from the .45 sight. You may find that your gun doesn't shoot to point of aim with your favorite load, and you'll want to change the height of the sight anyway. I have a Bomar rear and MGW front on my Delta, and the adjustment range of the rear is a good match for the front, which I think is a .200", but I don't recall.
If your gun is to be a shooter, go with a Bomar style rear sight...........A modification to the slide requires a good gunsmith, but its worth the effort in the long run.........A Champion or Fusion Bomar style sight should work fine with the OEM front sight.

I would look at Brownells and Midway. The reason I mention it is I bought a Novak rear from Brownells which was compatible with the front sight on my 2002 Colt Defender. It is on the bottom below and I did change the grips on both pistols for some from the old Ajax company.

When I get the other issues sorted out, I'm going to send the slide to Trijicon to have nites installed. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/index.php Tracy

Did you change out the plastic spring guide and double spring?
Did you change out the plastic spring guide and double spring?

When I got it used, it was a little more used and abused than I originally thought. Recoil springs were worn out and guide rod plastic was shredding off inside the slide tunnel. Remington 180fmj factory is a mild (well, nowhere near hot anyway), and was throwing brass 30+'. I put in a Sprinco Recoil Reducing Guide Rod (like I have in all my 1911's), and a #20 recoil spring....same load was now going about 20-25'. Since I wanted to sort the problems out, I needed to know what the base was, so I have ordered, received, and installed the dual spring and plastic guide rod stock Delta recoil system from Colt. Haven't had it to the range to see what "original stock" is yet, but then I will have my base line that I can compare changes......one at a time to the original setup.
