I have a fairly late Detective Special, 3rd type, I think and I want to know if I can safely use +P rounds in it. Thanks in advance...yashua

3rd generation Dick Specials have the ejector rod shrouds. It can handle some shooting of +P loads, but a steady diet of them is not recommended.

The post-1972 (shrouded barrel) Colt DS was factory rated for 3000 rounds of +P ammo, at which point it needed to be sent in to the factory for inspection and possible frame replacement.

The aluminum Cobra was rated for 1500 rounds.
