Does this look correct for a 3" Detective Special? I have asked the seller for more pictures and the serial number.

It looks all correct to me. I would guess it is from about 1968. Not a common barrel length.

The hollow rolled pin in the hammer was used from about 1966-1968. I have a Detective Special that is a little later gun with the 3" barrel. Great shooting little revolver. For me, the extra inch of barrel makes it a lot easier to shoot.

Thanks "Bushwhacker", now, what's an educated guess of worth? Does the 3" barrel add to the worth, compared to a standard length?

I'll let someone else venture a price. I would guess that the 3" barrels were less than ten percent of total production, and would add 40-50% in value above the 2" barrel, all other things being equal. Hope that helps a little.
